ABOUT THE BOOK

FCE is launching the book "Modelagem, avaliação e proteção para Risco Operacional", a Portuguese translation of the original “Modeling, Measuring and Hedging Operational Risk”, by Marcelo Cruz, one of the most-sold finance books in the world.

Operational risk has evolved considerably in the last five years. The term ``operational risk'' was probably mentioned for the first time right after the infamous Barings bankruptcy event. This event brought awareness to the financial market that these, until then ignored, risks could affect considerably the results of operations and that they could not be classified either as market or credit risk.

The models presented in this book were tested and have demonstrated an excellent performance. Examples with real or simulated data help to illustrate how operational risk occurs and how it can be avoided.
